Dental Bonding

bonding.jpgBonding is a similar procedure to veneers. Unlike porcelain veneers, teeth are bonded with a tooth-colored composite resin which is bonded to the natural tooth.

Bonding can be used to fix broken or chipped teeth, close spaces between teeth, lengthen small teeth or change the color of stained or darkened teeth.

An advantage to choosing bonding over veneers is that it can be completed in a single office visit. It is a simple procedure where the tooth is lightly etched and the bonding gel is applied and shaped. A harmless, high-intensity light sets the resin. Then it is trimmed and polished.

The drawback to bonding over veneers is that it is not as strong as your natural tooth enamel and is more prone to chipping and staining. But overall the bonding usually lasts about 3-5 years and significantly change the overall appearance of your smile.
