Wisdom tooth removal is one of the most common dental procedures of today! If you are getting your wisdom teeth removed soon, here are some things to expect!
Before Your Procedure
Before your procedure, you will meet Dr. Bouffard to go over what to expect for your personal procedure. He will go over any medications you are taking and answer any questions you may have.
The Day of the Surgery
The actual procedure takes an average of about 45 minutes. Dr. Bouffard will anesthetize you via the agreed upon method discussed at your pre-op appointment. This way you will be numb during the procedure and should not feel any pain. At the end of the procedure, Dr. Bouffard will stitch up the area and place gauze to stop any bleeding.
After the procedure, please arrange for someone to be there to drive you home. You may be experiencing pain and drowsiness from the anesthesia.
After the Surgery
You may be in slight discomfort and have inflamed cheeks for up to 3 days after your procedure. We recommend icing, eating soft foods, avoiding using a straw, or rinsing too aggressively.
